Groups give toys to children in Pediatrics Ward at Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center

After spending a week in a hospital in Fontana, young Cruz Santy of Ontario received the good news on Dec. 21: He was able to return home.

And making that day even more special was the fact that Cruz, who is 22 months old, was given several toys from the Special Angels Foundation to cheer him up prior to his departure from Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

The Special Angels Foundation, which is based in the Inland Empire, held a Christmas toy drive during the holiday season and distributed toys to many children in the Pediatrics Ward.

The foundation, which supports families with special needs children, was joined in the giveaway by another area organization which serves the special needs community, Down Syndrome Family Resource Center. It was one of several projects the nonprofit groups were involved in this year.
